Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas last night danced the Quickstep to “Redneck Woman.” Earlier in the week Bristol had taken Mark to a shooting range to give him a feel for her world.
Judge Bruno Tonioli criticized Bristol’s hold, frame and “too much fun” for the type of dance it was. Carrie Ann Inaba complimented Bristol’s vibrancy, but said “you sold yourself way too short.” She counseled Bristol, “you can break hold in the beginning. You can break hold at the end, but not in the middle. You slammed us in the face by saying, ‘I’m not going to follow your rules,’ so guess what? Slam back!” But, even with the strong critique, Inaba closed by saying, “I love watching you perform now.” Len Goodman said, “I liked the fun, I liked the enthusiasm of the dance.” He concurred with Inaba about breaking hold in mid-dance. “I liked the hoe-down, but the technique was a bit low down,” he quipped. “I enjoyed it anyway, though. Good job. Well done,” Goodman concluded.
Bristol’s performance earned her 18 out of 30 points, so she is in last place for this week’s run and is in jeopardy of leaving the show. Whatever the ultimate outcome, Bristol is “our favorite redneck.”
