Target Missed

Bristol the Pistol missed her target in her final act on Dancing with the Stars, despite her legions of adoring fans and their votes, which carried her all season long. Though her footwork was precise and she demonstrated steady improvement in performance, she was competing against two teams of professional entertainers and athletes with many years of experience, and some with perfect scores. Armchair critics will no doubt spend plenty of time conducting extensive post-mortems on Bristol and Mark’s final dances and the weeks prior. Their final dances were flawless and had Bristol’s performance potential shining, and acknowledged by the judges – but Bristol’s non-entertainment background did not propel her to the top. This is a dance competition, and just like everything else in life, you win some, you lose some, and sometimes you just break even. Some will say the judges were unfair. Maybe. Life is unfair. It’s also sweet.

An Amazing Accomplishment

While the cold and timid critics who know neither victory nor defeat prattle on, Bristol threw herself in the arena against overwhelming odds in a show stacked with professionals. Bristol made it to the finals. Her partner Mark is a professional who danced seven seasons on DWTS. He made it to the finals three times and never walked away a champion. He was eliminated before the finals in four out of his seven seasons. Bristol, who prior to the show never formally danced one step outlasted nine weeks worth of professional dancers and entertainers. For someone who did it just to break out of her comfort zone, that achievement is nothing short of phenomenal. Bristol still has earned the right to walk with a little more swagger and hold her head a little higher.

“Bristol the Pistol” Reloads…

Like her parents and grandparents before her, Bristol will not retreat. She’ll reload. She has a speaking circuit calendar ahead of her to advocate for abstinence, pro-life, and women’s issues. Though Team Ballin’ lost the trophy, having made the final, the dynamic dancing duo will still be on a DWTS speaking circuit. Bristol expressed her intent to resume her normal life, returning to Alaska, doing her teen advocacy work, and as she told Greta van Susteren last week, “seeing what God has in store for me.”

Bristol probably will not have to wait too long. Having been a finalist on DWTS will open new doors for her on new stages, including possible commercials and product endorsements. Though Bristol said she does not intend to become a professional dancer, her making the finals could earn her a subsequent season on DWTS. Whether Bristol realizes it or not, DWTS will change her life in ways yet to be seen.

“Bristol the Pistol” was handed a fresh magazine. Soon, she will be cocked and locked for her life’s next journey, and make no mistake about it, Bristol is going places.

It’s all good.

I just want to thank you for the great coverage of the Bristol and Mark Show on DWTS. I read your blog all the time and have shared many of your postings on my blog http://www.wearejudeochristianperiod.wordpress.com.
We all congratulate Bristol for the courage, the stamina, the grace to put up with Hollywood tinseltown bunch. It took a lot of inner strength to deal with the world of make believe and fantasy. Also, the nasty and very disturbing hate mongers. Unbelievable. I will never forget this ordeal that this young girl has gone through.

She made us proud with her beautiful dances and haunting presence. She could not have had a more caring, protective, patient, and professional teacher and partner than Mark Ballas, a champion 2 times on DWTS!

Mark won with Olympic Gold Medal Gymnast, Shawn Johnson and also, with Ice Skating Champion, Kristi Yamaguchi. So, Bristol had the best – they don't come any better than Mark Ballas.

I'm so certain that Mark has never encountered a partner like Bristol. From reading his blog and journal, one can tell that Bristol has made a mark on his life. He has talked about how sweet she is. He has said that this was the first time he has had the opportunity to train a partner with no performing experience or dance or musical background whatsoever, and how proud of her he feels and how fulfilling the experience of Bristol has been for. He will never forget the experience. This was a winning endeavor for both of them.

I hate to see it come to an end. We got so used to watching their great team work every week

Bright futures for both of them are waiting so God bless you, Bristol and Mark and God bless Sarah Palin. You were superb, Bristol and Mark …congrats again!
