Gov. Palin Advises Candidates on Greta; No Endorsements or Picks

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tonight offered advice for six of the declared candidates running for President in 2012 on Greta Van Susteren’s On the Record from her home in Wasilla, Alaska. Gov. Palin did not endorse any candidate saying that the “the cream has not risen to the top.” She did not pick a candidate most likely to defeat Obama in 2012 as Fox News had promoted on its website, and the subject of a reconsidered run never arose during the interview.

Gov. Palin said a candidate who most closely aligns with her values and articulates them best would earn her endorsement. The values she specifically mentioned include: “shifting the balance of power back to the people and adhering to the Constitution.”

In what will likely be the “takeaway” from tonight’s interview, Gov. Palin said she “would bring the rope” to hang former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky “from the highest tree if he were found guilty and convicted of child molestation charges.” That statement was made in answer to Van Susteren’s question about whether Gov. Palin agreed with former Senator Rick Santorum’s position that Penn State should not be allowed to play in any bowl game. Gov. Palin said that “it was not the players’ fault and they should not be made to suffer for having had a perverted coach.”

About Herman Cain, Gov. Palin said “it sucks to be falsely accused,” but also said Cain needs to candidly answer the questions being asked of him and acknowledged that his answers could be “a game-changer.” She said Cain needs to get to the substance of the issues. Gov. Palin recounted that both she and her husband Todd have been falsely accused of having affairs.

Gov. Palin said Romney has been running for president for nearly six years now and has not seen a change in his polling numbers. She said he “needs to reach out to the Tea Party conservatives and explain his real and perceived flip-flops.” She said voters seek authenticity and candidness.

Ron Paul “has very energized supporters….it’s unfortunate he has been written off,” Gov. Palin said adding that Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum have also been written off by the mainstream media. “He needs to keep doing what he is doing. He was only given 89 seconds to respond to questions. It’s not fair, but his supporters need to be the ones to raise the issue, Gov. Palin said.

She said public disdain for Congress, especially with revelations of crony capitalism and pay-to-play are at least contributing factors in Santorum and Bachmman being written off. She added that if Congressmen and women are not fighting crony capitalism, people will perceive them as being part of it.

“[Newt Gingrich] needs to hang on to his hat. People are respecting his performance in debates and his knowledge of history,” Gov. Palin said. She continued that his momentum in the polls makes him a target for media scrutiny and he needs to be prepared for it.

Gov. Palin said this election is not just about replacing Barack Obama, but who we replace him with. “Evidently, in this day and age, personal indiscretions don’t matter, but jobs and economy are paramount. People need an explanation about solutions and proposals.”

Why don't you and I go to Wasilla and "OSP" (Occupy Sarah Palin) I notices that she didn't use "The flavor of the month" comment on Newt. This women is our NEXT PRESIDENT………
I thought Greda was going to swallow her gum, when Sarah says "Hang him from the highest tree and I'll bring the rope" I wonder how many of us said "Your right girl" ???? I heard that your going to do a TV add. Good thinking-I believe that instead of letters and comments on blogs, that we should do TV add's requesting her to re-consider. Effective advert. in what you retain,
(1) Verbal 15% (2) Reading 35% (3) Listen to on radio 40% (4) Visual-movie or TV 90%
If you want Sarah back in the game-think about visual adds, get your request on TV !!!!!!!

JerseyFlash,

The idea of "Occupy" anything does not sit well with me at all. To me, "Occupying" is harassment plain and simple. One person sending Gov. Palin the same "earthquake" letter or post card multiple times is also harassment in my opinion.

I am personally conflicted about the whole reconsider thing and I am leaning more against it as time marches on. Yes, I would love nothing more than for Gov. Palin to do a re-considered run. I've expressed my dissatisfaction with the field of candidates – perhaps a little too much for my own good. I've certainly taken flak for it – putting "Sarah on a pedestal," and "hero worshiping" – for saying the same thing I've been saying the last three years.

Reconsider and run to what end and at what what cost to Gov. Palin, to her family – and to us? Several filing deadlines have come and gone. One of those is Florida – a big state with 29 electoral votes. That means Florida is responsible for a lot of delegates. The only way she gets on the ballot in Florida is by write-in – and that's if it's legal. Will enough people in Florida write her in over the declared candidates? And what steps are the people clamoring for Gov. Palin to announce a reconsidered run ready and willing to take to help her win Florida? Or should she just run because we want her to – even if her run turns into a kamikaze mission? Do we really want that for her?

I have written in semi-favor of the C4P reconsider TV ad <a href="http:// (http://us4palin.com/consideration-of-reconsideration/“ target=”_blank”> <a href="http://(http://us4palin.com/consideration-of-reconsideration/” target=”_blank”>(http://us4palin.com/consideration-of-reconsideration/ ) – something about which I am also conflicted. Let me make clear – it is Ian Lazaran's project – Ian is an editor at C4P. I don't have a problem with an ad that expresses support of Gov. Palin; that expresses her supporters are there for her, have her back and are ready to do work – as she wishes. I do have a problem with an ad that attempts to change her mind, because I just don't see such a project as being successful or rooted in reality. Her decision to not run was never premised upon popular support. It was premised upon other factors. For Gov. Palin to change her mind the factors that she saw impeding her run must be rendered inoperative – very fast. It's not going to be because she saw the million and first letter or an ad. And, now on a reconsidered run, she has to deal with these states whose deadlines she missed. I'm not suggesting she can't – but it will be very much harder.

Ultimately, Gov. Palin is the rightful owner of any reconsideration process. If she does it, yes I will go all out for her to help her win in 2012 – which I was going to do in the first place. But, if she does not, I will follow her lead. I'll pick a candidate and vote in the primary. Yes, it won't be what I want. Like the Rolling Stones sang "you can't always get what you want." And, I'll support whatever she is doing however she is doing it.
