Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd today will join Greta Van Susteren, her husband John Coale, and Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan’s Purse at Operation Heal Our Patriots, a wilderness retreat in Port Alsworth, Alaska. Van Susteren, Coale and Graham have been on site for several days.
“Operation Heal Our Patriots is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse to military couples with a spouse wounded or injured in combat or combat-related activities after 9/11,” Samaritan Purse’s press release said.
This past Friday, Van Susteren, Coale, and Graham fished with veterans off a fully accessible fishing and recreation boat, named the Jay Hammond after one of Alaska’s former governors. “They also celebrated with three military couples who rededicated their marriages before God and the gathered community,” the release said. Samaritan’s Purse also spoke about US Army veteran Jeremy Barnhart, who was wounded in a double bomb blast in Baghdad. He is an accomplished opera singer and sang Amazing Grace during a ceremony in which he committed himself to Christ.
Today closes out the 12th out of 15 weeks for Operation Heal Our Patriots. “Through a variety of outdoor adventures, biblically-based marriage resiliency classes, and daily devotions led by retired military chaplains, couples can make cherished memories together and experience God’s healing love in a unique environment,” the release concluded.
