Sarah Palin was Greta Van Susteren’s guest “On The Record” Thursday night. The GOP’s 2008 vice presidential candidate praised former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, but said that she hopes that Mitt Romney selects a pro-life conservative for his running mate.
Palin characterized the claim by a senior DOE official that his department’s loan guarantee program was successful as “Orwellian.” Citing taxpayer-funded loans DOE made to Solyndra and other failed “green” energy ventures, she said that the Obama Administration’s thinking that it deserves four more years is “insanity.”
Gov. Palin said that she was “so glad” that Romney went to Houston to address the NAACP. If he had refused the invitation, she opined, there would have been a chorus of cries of “racism” from the left. When Van Susteren mentioned that Rep. Nancy Pelosi had suggested that Romney went to talk to NAACP hoping to be booed, the Mama Grizzly replied, “That is one paranoid politician.”
As for Democrat Party operative Stephanie Cutter’s charge that Romney may have committed a felony, Sarah Palin warned that sort of demagoguery was just “the tip of the iceberg,” and Romney’s campaign should brace itself for much worse to be thrown at their nominee by the Democrats. The former governor suggested that Romney must “take the gloves off” and fight back hard against such tactics and dirty tricks from the left.
Palin said that Romney can improve his standing with Hispanics and other voters by continuing to show his support for legal immigration, equal opportunity and the rule of law.
