Commentary On the Interview

Governor Palin reiterated her position on the stimulus package — from Congress passing it without even reading it — up to her veto of the poisoned $28.6 million in stimulus money that would have required Alaska to adopt federal building codes statewide, with a concomitant breach of the Tenth Amendment and costs greater than the amount of money received.

On the economy, Governor Palin spoke about our burgeoning deficit and how we are borrowing more and more money to pay off the debt, digging the hole all the deeper. She spoke about our debt to China, and their new stake in our auto industry. Much of what is coming to pass today was predicted during the campaign, and Governor Palin confirmed it with “I told ya so!” The Governor warned that we continue expanding our government and nationalizing businesses, we will become a socialist nation unrecognizable from that which was founded.

Governor Palin reiterated the Reagan principle that government is here to serve us– that we should impose our will on Washington, not the other way around. She spoke about the importance of drilling for domestic oil and the gas pipeline being built from the North Slope to Alberta, Canada. Governor Palin said that while higher oil prices bring more revenue to Alaska’s tax coffers, she would prefer that state government have less money to spend and spend what they have wisely. Largesse leads to out-of-control spending and consequent higher taxes.

Governor Palin said that in a week, she would release exciting news about that pipeline, which will bring domestic natural gas to the continental United States.

Finally, the Governor spoke about her participation in the Autism Speaks walk at Purchase, NY; the Yankee game she watched with Rudy Giuliani, and the award she was about to receive from Independent Group Home Living, Inc. which was documented in this entry.

To summarize, Governor Palin provided intelligent analysis of the economy and Obama’s approach to it that reflects the breadth and depth of her 17 years of executive experience and Reagan conservative core values….and Obama’s utter lack of same.

Commentary On Feminine Beauty and Sexism

While writing this entry, the author learned that CBS stand-up comedian David Letterman made a comment that Governor Palin looked like a “slutty flight attendant.” This comment is sexist, chauvinistic, and adds nothing of value to the conversation. A common tactic we all learned on the playground when making an ad hominem attack is to go sexual.

Governor Palin’s outfit was appropriate and befitting an accomplished executive attending a gala dinner. This was a formal outfit, and the half up-do she wore was absolutely stunning. Governor Palin looked elegant, stately, graceful, well poised, and CONFIDENT in her knowledge of subject matter and who she is. This author has amassed nearly 900 media photos of Governor Palin in the course of blogging her many accomplishments. She never wore anything revealing in any one of them — even in her beauty contest attire from years ago, where baring all is de rigueur — she was modest in her dress. Governor Palin’s clothes highlight her feminine beauty, simultaneously being modest, and lending an air of mystery to her. They do not in any way detract from her authority as a leader….she chooses what aspects of her feminine beauty she wishes to make public, and which aspects she chooses to conceal. This is her absolute, inalienable right as a woman.

Letterman’s statement is right out of Rules for Radicals — negate the positive — in this case by saying something negative about an intelligent — and yes heart-stopping, breath-taking beautiful — woman who dresses appropriately for the functions she attends (Dear God….please don’t let my wife see this….)

Letterman also perpetuates the sexist myth that a beautiful woman somehow lacks intelligence.

Governor Palin spent six minutes giving a cogent, thorough analysis of multiple complex subjects — subjects that our Ivy League-educated so-called President has absolutely no knowledge of, because he never even ran a small corporate department in his life. She did so without the aid of a teleprompter and not one “uh” escaped her lips. Her speech which soon followed also came from her head and her heart.

Most people would break after trying to accomplish even 1/10,000th of what Governor Palin accomplishes in a single day…and yes her feminine beauty makes everything around her come to a stop. She is a woman and celebrates it. What’s wrong with that? Is that not what feminism is all about? Since when in our culture do we revile beauty? And where exactly did the nonsensical notion that intelligence and beauty are incompatible originate?
