Though Miss America 2003 Erika Harold has endured disgusting attacks, she said during her interview on the Palin Update with Kevin Scholla the level of attacks on former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin were unprecedented. Harold said anyone who runs for office and doesn’t fit a stereotype will have a hard introduction.
Harold’s accomplishments outside of Miss America include graduating from Harvard Law School, serving on the national steering committee of W Stands for Women, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Prison Fellowship. She’s wanted to run for elective office for a long time, and wishes to engage young voters getting them to vote Republican and for conservative principles.
The former Miss America who is still a practicing lawyer said over regulation and high taxes are crippling small businesses. Harold advocates for crop insurance to help farmers budget and bio-fuels as a way to secure energy independence.
“The Constitution is a foundational document,” she said. She is a strong Second Amendment supporter and has taken on First Amendment issues in her legal career.
Harold said the goal of the Prison Fellowship is to help prisoners become productive, contributing members of society after serving their sentences. She shares Gov. Palin’s values on life and human dignity.
The former Miss America is running in a primary against an appointed incumbent. She said primaries foster competitions, which lead to better outcomes.
Though Harold’s opponents might use her Miss America pageant pictures against her, she said she proud of having been in that pageant. It helped her set goals and helped pay for her Harvard Law School degree.
Her primary is in March 2014. Harold is the second Miss America candidate to have been on the Palin Update with Kevin Scholla.
