Palin Blasts Obama on Ground Zero Mosque Endorsement

Brava to Governor Palin for standing up and speaking out against to this profoundly insensitive and gregarious attack on the American heart. Obama has sealed his fate and shown himself to the American people.

Worse still for his party, but good for the American people,  every Democrat now has to come out from their hiding places and state their position on Ground Zero mega mosque.

Legitimate Questions for the PresidentMr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive “cross-cultural engagement” and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven’t they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren’t you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson’s generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven’t they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as “hallowed ground”? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

Other Republican leaders:

John Boehner, the Ohio Republican who is the House minority leader, said: ”The decision to build this mosque so close to the site of ground zero is deeply troubling, as is the president’s decision to endorse it.”

“The American people certainly don’t support it,” Mr. Boehner said.

Representative Peter King, a New York Republican, said that while the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque, doing so needlessly offends too many people.

“President Obama is wrong,” Mr. King said. “It is insensitive and uncaring for the Muslim community to build a mosque in the shadow of ground zero. While the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque they are abusing that right by needlessly offending so many people who have suffered so much. The right and moral thing for President Obama to have done was to urge Muslim leaders to respect the families of those who died and move their mosque away from Ground Zero. Unfortunately the president caved into political correctness.”

Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker, also condemned the proposed mosque and the President’s comments.

“There is nothing surprising in the president’s continued pandering to radical Islam,” he said. “What he said last night is untrue and in accurate. The fact is this is not about religious liberty.”

Mr. Gingrich said the proposed mosque would be a symbol of Muslim “triumphalism” and that building the mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks “would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust Museum.”

“It’s profoundly and terribly wrong,” he said.

I was at the Trade Center the day it fell. I volunteered to help. American Muslims volunteered with me. When the Trade Centers fell many American Muslims were inside the buildings and died as a result. When I was in the army I served with American Muslims. American Muslims Fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am proud they will have their chance to build near ground zero. It is not offensive, immoral or wrong to be Muslim, and just because one is Muslim does not mean they should be judged by the actions of other Muslims half a world away with different ideals and values. That is not how it is supposed to work in America.

Sunflower….

We would not build a Japanese memorial at Pearl Harbor, or a German monument in Israel. Would you want a monument to the Crusades in some place where Muslims were killed? Gov. Palin in one of her Tweets, said, "9/11 mosque=act of fitna, "equivalent to bldg Serbian Orthodox church@Srebrenica killing fields where Muslims were slaughtered" – Raza&Fatah". Same principle.

This is why people are up in arms. The organizers of this – who loudly trumpet it to be a "Ground Zero Mosque" wanted to be "in your face" with it – and now that people are negatively pre-disposed, they're wondering why. The imam behind this project still does not recognize that Hamas is a terrorist group. He tells English-speaking press that no foreign money will be involved, then seeks funding from Saudi Arabia – home to the Wahabbi and Salafi movement. His choice of location and opening date is absolutely wrong.

I stand with Gov. Palin on this and every other issue.

Ron…

They aren't building a monument they are building a community center. We would allow a Japanese church two blocks from Pearl Harbor, The Japanese own more than half of Hawaii already. As far as Germans and Israel' it is not our business what Israel does, its their country. We would never allow Al Queda to build here if that is what you mean. These guys are not Al Queda that is my point. These guys are Americans that believe we all worship the same God and that people should be able to pray as they choose. Look it up Bush worked with the Aman during his administration.

You don't know what these people are about and you are jumping to conclusions. Take some time to research the Aman and their sect. I bet you will feel differently if you do.

Sunflower,

That's absolute BS and you know it. The imam is considering receiving funding from Saudi Arabia and/or Iran. The imam does not consider Hamas a terror group. Hamas supports the mosque. They want to build this two blocks north of the WTC site and open it on 9/11/11. That's a provocation. I know exactly what these people are about. So does Michael Grimm, Sarah Palin, and even liberals like Harry Reid and Congressman McMahon.

No, there should not be a victory mosque near the WTC. This is not about the First Amendment. It's about human decency. We would not allow the Japanese a war memorial near Pearl Harbor. You fluff off what Israel does as being their own business. No, it's the same principle. They would not have a German war memorial there. And since you're focused on religious examples, tell me one church or synagogue that exists in Mecca. One. Right. Zero. They're not permitted there.

The WTC site was attacked TWICE by Muslims in the name of Islam. Now, we're supposed to bend over and let them build a victory mosque? No way! We owe them nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Let them build it someplace else. They wanted this holy war. They started it – we're going to finish it – on our terms.
