Bristol Palin last night wowed the judges with a solid Cha-Cha performance following a two-year hiatus from Dancing With the Stars. During her time off the DWTS floor, she had not danced a single step of a formal routine. All three judges raved about Bristol’s confidence, and her mastery of the dance moves.
Carrie Ann Inaba declared Bristol the “most improved since the last time.” She said Bristol’s legs are beautiful and that her confidence and sass had greatly improved. Inaba said she wanted Bristol “to have a little more pop” in her arm movements. “Welcome back!” Inaba said. Len Goodman admired Bristol’s confidence, straight legs, and “good hip action.” But, he said her arm movements needed to be “more fluid” and she tends to “put one arm here and the other arm there.” Goodman said “overall, it was great improvement. Well done.” Bruno Tonioli said, “Bristol – darling – is it really you? You were refreshed, revived, refurbished! You were really giving it!” Tonioli said Bristol “has all the elements,” but supported his colleagues’ critiques of her arm movements. He wants to see more “power and focus” in future performances, emphasizing and repeating those two words.
Bristol’s performance earned her 6.5 from all the judges with a combined total score of 19. Dancing with the Stars All Stars debuted last night with the first in a two-show special. The show continues tonight with an elimination round.
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, her husband Todd, and Bristol’s son Tripp were in the audience to cheer Bristol on.
