Sarah Palin Drops The Hammer: “President Obama You Have A Credibility Gap”

by gary on Thursday, January 28, 2010 19:11 EDT

We kind of figured Sarah would have something more to say about President Obama’s State of the Union speech. As you will read, she doesn’t disappoint.

Sarah was pulling no punches last night when she appeared on the Sean Hannity Show:

She was spot on. It was like Obama was lecturing America. This was the most disjointed, rambling, and frankly..hateful State of the Union speech we have ever witnessed. It was all about Obama attacking those he thought weren’t on board with his lunacy.

But why waste time. Let Sarah give us her take. This is simply delicious:

The Credibility Gap

While I don’t wish to speak too harshly about President Obama’s state of the union address, we live in challenging times that call for candor. I call them as I see them, and I hope my frank assessment will be taken as an honest effort to move this conversation forward.

Last night, the president spoke of the “credibility gap” between the public’s expectations of their leaders and what those leaders actually deliver. “Credibility gap” is a good way to describe the chasm between rhetoric and reality in the president’s address. The contradictions seemed endless.

He called for Democrats and Republicans to “work through our differences,” but last year he dismissed any notion of bipartisanship when he smugly told Republicans, “I won.”

He talked like a Washington “outsider,” but he runs Washington! He’s had everything any president could ask for – an overwhelming majority in Congress and a fawning press corps that feels tingles every time he speaks. There was nothing preventing him from pursuing “common sense” solutions all along. He didn’t pursue them because they weren’t his priorities, and he spent his speech blaming Republicans for the problems caused by his own policies.

He dared us to “let him know” if we have a better health care plan, but he refused to allow Republicans in on the negotiations or consider any ideas for real free market and patient-centered reforms. We’ve been “letting him know” our ideas for months from the town halls to the tea parties, but he isn’t interested in listening. Instead he keeps making the nonsensical claim that his massive trillion-dollar health care bill won’t increase the deficit.

Americans are suffering from job losses and lower wages, yet the president practically demanded applause when he mentioned tax cuts, as if allowing people to keep more of their own hard-earned money is an act of noblesse oblige. He claims that he cut taxes, but I must have missed that. I see his policies as paving the way for massive tax increases and inflation, which is the “hidden tax” that most hurts the poor and the elderly living on fixed incomes.

He condemned lobbyists, but his White House is filled with former lobbyists, and this has been a banner year for K Street with his stimulus bill, aka the Lobbyist’s Full Employment Act. He talked about a “deficit of trust” and the need to “do our work in the open,” but he chased away the C-SPAN cameras and cut deals with insurance industry lobbyists behind closed doors.

He spoke of doing what’s best for the next generation and not leaving our children with a “mountain of debt,” but under his watch this year, government spending is up by 22%, and his budget will triple our national debt.

He spoke of a spending freeze, but doesn’t he realize that each new program he’s proposing comes with a new price tag? A spending freeze is a nice idea, but it doesn’t address the root cause of the problem. We need a comprehensive examination of the role of government spending. The president’s deficit commission is little more than a bipartisan tax hike committee, lending political cover to raise taxes without seriously addressing the problem of spending.

He condemned bailouts, but he voted for them and then expanded and extended them. He praised the House’s financial reform bill, but where was Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in that bill? He still hasn’t told us when we’ll be getting out of the auto and the mortgage industries. He praised small businesses, but he’s spent the past year as a friend to big corporations and their lobbyists, who always find a way to make government regulations work in their favor at the expense of their mom & pop competitors.

He praised the effectiveness of his stimulus bill, but then he called for another one – this time cleverly renamed a “jobs bill.” The first stimulus was sold to us as a jobs bill that would keep unemployment under 8%. We now have double digit unemployment with no end in sight. Why should we trust this new “jobs bill“?

He talked about “making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development,” but apparently it’s still too tough for his Interior Secretary to move ahead with Virginia’s offshore oil and gas leases. If they’re dragging their feet on leases, how long will it take them to build “safe, clean nuclear power plants“? Meanwhile, he continued to emphasize “green jobs,” which require massive government subsidies for inefficient technologies that can’t survive on their own in the real world of the free market.

He spoke of supporting young girls in Afghanistan who want to go to school and young women in Iran who courageously protest in the streets, but where were his words of encouragement to the young girls of Afghanistan in his West Point speech? And where was his support for the young women of Iran when they were being gunned down in the streets of Tehran?

Despite speaking for over an hour, the president only spent 10% of his speech on foreign policy, and he left us with many unanswered questions. Does he still think trying the 9/11 terrorists in New York is a good idea? Does he still think closing Gitmo is a good idea? Does he still believe in Mirandizing terrorists after the Christmas bomber fiasco? Does he believe we’re in a war against terrorists, or does he think this is just a global crime spree? Does he understand that the first priority of our government is to keep our country safe?

In his address last night, the president once again revealed that there’s a fundamental disconnect between what the American people expect from their government, and what he wants to deliver. He’s still proposing failed top-down big government solutions to our problems. Instead of smaller, smarter government, he’s taken a government that was already too big and supersized it.

Real private sector jobs are created when taxes are low, investment is high, and people are free to go about their business without the heavy hand of government. The president thinks innovation comes from government subsidies. Common sense conservatives know innovation comes from unleashing the creative energy of American entrepreneurs.

Everything seems to be “unexpected” to this administration: unexpected job losses; unexpected housing numbers; unexpected political losses in Massachusetts, Virginia, and New Jersey. True leaders lead best when confronted with the unexpected. But instead of leading us, the president lectured us. He lectured Wall Street; he lectured Main Street; he lectured Congress; he even lectured our Supreme Court Justices.

He criticized politicians who “wage a perpetual campaign,” but he gave a campaign speech instead of a state of the union address. The campaign is over, and President Obama now has something that candidate Obama never had: an actual track record in office. We now can see the failed policies behind the flowery words. If Americans feel as cynical as the president suggests, perhaps it’s because the audacity of his recycled rhetoric no longer inspires hope.

Real leadership requires results. Real hope lies in the ingenuity, generosity, and boundless courage of the American people whose voices are still not being heard in Washington.

- Sarah Palin

Say it with me children! BOOM!

That’s a hard act to follow right there. Nothing more one can add except spot on Sarah, spot on.

No wonder the latest poll places Sarah Palin at the top of the 2012 presidential sweepstakes.

Hey,…Thank You Sara Palin for your objective, brave, no-nonsense, common sense knowledge & leadership. The Washington insiders want someone they can buy off;..Scared of you so going against you. I hope & pray for your leadership;..in whatever capacity;..Pres or V.P. or Secretary of State;..Other countries are laughing @ us know. Pls people, wake up to this sinking leadership with Obama. He'd be a great used car saleman,..but we need Ms.Palin/Romney/Guilliana and such to recover from this circus show…We're with you all the way Sara…Keep up the great job….You'd be a Great Commander N Chief & Fiscal Conservative with common sense…Best Regards from TX & The Dakotas

    A prime example:

President Obama will not turn over a terrorist to a foreign nation to be "waterboarded", but he will turn over a terrorist to a foreign nation to be hanged. Remember that "Chemical Ali" was in US custody in Iraq. If you were the terrorist, which would you prefer? Not to mention that Ali must have been innocent, since we all know Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction. Just ask Scott Ritter. Oh, that's right, we can't ask him. He's in jail for the 2nd time for soliciting sex with minors over the internet.

  • Paul V Reynolds Jr

Dear, Sarah i love how you have stuck up for us the little people i can not stand oboma, he is a discrace to the USA, i just wanted to say thank you if you ever need a foot soldier in NEW JERSEY just ask i would be honor to be at your service.

I absolutely loved this article. Obama is definitely the worst, most corrupt, shadiest, and most inexperienced POTUS I have experienced in my 41 years of living. I watched parts of his State of the Union address, and it was so biased and so painful to watch that I was surprised that Republicans didn't start walking off of the floor. To see that kind of cheerleading for bad fiscal policy that will only lead to the destruction of our economy (assuming it hasn't happened already) is absolutely atrocious, and I think sweeping changes must be made come November. By the way-is his legal name Obama or Soereto? Give them hell, Sarah. Better yet, send Obama to AK and make him survive the winter having to hunt and fish-that is, if he knows how to eat outside of what he buys at Whole Foods.

I think our president needs to be given a drug test–he talks like he is under the influence. Completely out of touch with reality.

  • BILL BAKER

My Dear Fellow Legal Americans who speek English I don't speek anyother language. Why should I. It is the language of OUR Country.
JOBS—- What caused unemployment one word AUTOMATION By definition to decreas labor.
Mainstream Manufactoring , Cars, Aircraft, (Military and Comertial) and now housing. (modular homes) All of which are Automated to the extreem. WHY A business buys a machine and depreciates it over 5 years as a tax write off . It doesn't need health care ,Benefits family time. but is just as ,if not more expensive than working people doing a job. Robots are not cheep. Maintainance comes with the package so now its monopolized by its manufactor (from what ever foreign country)

If any new or old President wanted to put people to work they could minimise the amount of automation in any manufactoring operation so people from USA would have jobs
    R. Reagan rest in pease Helped Government controled manufactoring in 1974 by creating a means for all compainys to be part of a program.
After a compition was awarded to a prime contractor they could only build 40% of it the rest was outsorced to another company which also outsorced work all with in the USA yes other countrys had work from this also. ie. Robot manufactors, welders, lifting ,harnasing , digital operated equipment, replaced the American worker.

The only and I'll say it twice THE ONLY NON AUTOMATED BUSINESS IS GOVERNMENT.

The tools to reduce government are right in front or your face —YES— The silent majority of computor users that pertisipate in these government (who government people don't read ) web blogs, senate and representative e-newletters to their constituants ("we the people")
that only tell us what they need to have done for us stupid helpless troden down constitutants. who happen to be in their "control."

  • Lindsey

    Do I dare say Palin/Brown 2012??

  • Gavin J.

Funny, those "Top down" solutions are exactly what Reagan proposed and carried through, via Supply Side Economics. I love it when neo-conservatives label the current administration as socialist. Republicans are just a socialist as the Democrats, the difference though is that Democrats tend to favor Populist socialism, which tend to undercut corporate earnings, where Republicans tend to favor Corporate Socialism in the form of corporate welfare, i.e. fascism (which by definition states a system in which capitol is the overriding influence of the state, in which it's citizens are merely a component, in the form of labor, of said capitol), disguised as patriotism. The last thing cooperation's want is a true free market, they want control, security. States, in the form of nations, do not exist for their people, that notion is a fallacy the world over, they exist for capitol and nations are put into place to protect capitol's interests. We need to learn the difference between fighting for our government and fighting for our country because not only are they no where near the same thing, too much of the former has dominated our politics and national policy

The problem with today's brand of conservatism , is that it claims to support a free market, when in truth it's actions over the past thirty years have proven otherwise, moving instead towards more totalitarian tenancies, of which both sides of the aisle have been instruments of. It claims to embrace a smaller government and did the exact opposite under Nixon, Reagan and both Bush's. It claims to make strides towards empowering its citizens to be a viable component in this nations affairs, again doing the opposite by impeding the civil liberties of its very own base and on the other hand further empowering multi-nationals. And most importantly paints itself as the freverant defender and practitioner of democracy, and in turn does not have the backbone to stomach a democratic process outside of its control.

    • Ron Devito

So, Gavin, what do you propose?

    • I love freedom

It's so funny to hear anti-capitalists talk about "corporations" as if they are these aliens that just appeared out of nowhere to take our money. Don't you have a job to provide for yourself and your family? Wouldn't you if you had the opportunity, start your own business and let it grow to provide even more for your family? The free market keeps businesses in check because the demands of the people determine what the business sells. The "populist socialism" is exactly opposite of what the name implies. If the government were to control everything and there were no competition in business, there would be no reason for a company to improve their services to the people. In the socialist system, the government doesn't need input from the people because they already get our money through taxes and they don't have any motivation to provide us better services.
YOU want to take away the competition and let the government control everything without letting the people have any input whatsoever.

  • Jim

It was a campaign speech verses SOTU address. As was stated on Fox afterwards He used the work "I" 96 times and "me or my" another 18 times. And no one counted how many times he blamed Bush. Gov McCain said it right. Obama was doing his typical BIOB. "Blame it on Bush"

What a pathetic little man Obama is.

  • TemporalBeing

She forgot to mention ACTA and all the secret deals for it.

  • Jack Valley

DRILL-DRILL-The quickest way to recover our economy is to start with the basic……..The energy source that we have built the USA to the point it was prior to 1980…It employes workers at ALL levels of commerce, including small service businesses…Then we can revise those regulations and taxes/fees…Review ALL the bureaucracies (eliminate, revise, correct)…Revise the need for Federal Education Department and support the STATES/LOCAL (revised) Education departments reduce Administrations…Regulate the Attorney world of scam and corruption…Establish USURY law not to exceed…When these are accomplished GO FULL SPEED AHEAD….

  • http://N/A Rodney W Hughs Sr

oh ya Obama is nothing but a joke..he only wants things his way,,not the way people want it..and the only jobs he works on are construction jobs and railroad jobs..like alot of people are gonna be able to do those jobs..Obama should get a job that he is good at…shoveling shat with the pigs..and he also contiues to waste tax payers money..

  • http://www.yahoo.com Charles Alexander

Way to go Sarah Palin you have President Obama and his Democrats running for cover. When you run for President in 2012 you've my support.

  • Megan

It doesn't matter who is in that office. WE ARE SCREWED! I am of the lower class. I made 20k last year and have to pay for my own insurance. I live pay check to paycheck. I know little of politics but what I do know is this. If the government isn't working for the people we have the right to over throw it. I think ALL of Washington should be fired. NONE of you do anything for people like me. NONE OF YOU. All you guys do is sit around and bitch and tear our country apart. Republican, Democrat ALL OF YOU. You have turned our country into a joke. You think you know our struggles? What because you come shake our hands and coo at our babies during election times? I say piss off to you. 95% of you have no clue what is like to live in the lower class. To struggle each day to make dollars stretch as far as possible to eat and have a roof over you. You are all worried about your own agendas. So just keep on pointing your fingers and wasting time spitting off crap about the other side. Why not just start civil war between the two parties?? Fight to the death in a cage maybe?? One less of your kind is fine by me. The government spends so much time bickering and accusing that we have not got anything done in YEARS!!!!!! The only thing I hold on to is this, I pray everyday that I find faith in my country again. I won't hold my breath, but will save what I can to move away from this hell hole I was born into.

    • Ron Devito

      Megan,

I certainly can understand your frustration and skepticism toward all things political. But, this situation did not get here by itself. These politicians did not just come into power by osmosis. We voted them in. The one good byproduct of Obama being in office is that it made people wake up and take an interest in politics and governance. People finally got up off their butts and started participating in the political process…whether it be town halls, the Tea Party movement, blogging, etc. For too many years, we have been lackadaisical and apathetic. We'd vote the same people in over and over again, even though they were doing nothing for us and everything for their own personal gain. We basically were not watching the store.

You should hear the "man on the street" interviews Sean Hannity occasionally does. He'll ask people who was on American Idol or some reality show. Nine times out of 10, they're able to answer that. Then he'll ask questions like "who is the President?" OK. That's easy. They answer that…."Who is the Vice President?" A good number start to hem and haw. "Who is the Secretary of State?" "Secretary of Defense?" "Who is your Senator?" "Your Congressman…" The silence is deafening.

There are some good politicians out there — and this website was built to support one of them. It is up to us as voters to vet our candidates and support the ones who support our interests and be sure that they do.

      • JT

Well I will commend the manner with which you responded to Megan, but in the end "we" did not elect these individuals.

Majority elected these individuals. In a number of instances our election system has been modified to service these representatives under the shadow of efficiency.

Case in point… voter registration and the existence of an electoral college. Majority rules everything in our country, but the means with which that majority is determined causes the problem. Not to mention you made a valid point about how individuals are polled regarding current representatives. If that demographic is sustainable across the country then there is truly only one way that individuals are elected. It's not for their achievements or positions; otherwise they would be remembered. Instead, it is because of marketing and advertising. People seem to vote familiarity these days and people seem to vote strictly because they want to have a claim to being a part of the system. There is a reason tv programming is driven by advertising. IT WORKS. It sticks a jingle or a name in your head the more repetitive it is. Voters then translate that to the polls more times than not.

So… if you want to get existential about it… "we" didn't elect these individuals. They had enough money, enough marketing, and enough public presence to create an association in a voters mind. Of course that is assuming you can vote. We have more reasons to disqualify a voter than socialist regimes have to puppet one.

  • earl

Even after their thumping in Mass. he comes out wanting to pass this corruption filled health fiasco. Maybe if it is challenged in the supreme court he will be wishing he haden't made that stupid comment. But it would give him someone else to blame for his failures, which is his norm , like a six year old [its not my fault]. Bush did it!!!

  • Steve

    Obama………………an American embarrassment………..vote people, VOTE!

  • Diane

I voted for McCain because of you. You are grounded and down to earth and are logical and make sense. The media make a laughing stock out of you. Not everyone knows everything about everything at the tip of their tongue. Before anyone interviewed you during the campaign you should have been afforded to opportunity to approve and prepare for a list of questions. I will support you because I believe in you and what you stand for. I just hope I still have a job in 3 years. Did people hate Bush so bad that the smoothist talker not their record awarded them the presidency?

  • Gregory

Leave the guy alone he doing a better job than you can frankly speaking.

    • I love freedom

What exactly is he doing? Raising the unemployment in our country? Trippling our national debt? Maybe if he had ANY experience whatsoever he might understand that his solutions don't work. But this is what we get for electing a guy who's never run a company, never been a governor or mayor, never written or sponsored a bill. Frankly speaking, he's done nothing but campaign since the beginning.

    • Gheilman

Gregory.,,..if your referring to obama doing a better job than you;..you must be high on crack…..Giving lawyers to terrorists, badmouthing our country, reading rights to guerrilla soldiers on the battlefield instead of treating as military prisoners;..wanting to try cases stateside like citizens is unbelievable to say least and incredibly ignorant/stupid and using valuable resources for these terrorist pigs. Maybe next time your family is on plane get'n blown up..you'll get a clue. Funding more govt jobs instead of helping independent businesses is pathetic, give tax breaks to people & businesses. Why give more to govt cronies, it doesn't wk…while they vote for more payraises for themselves n congress. How bout CrissDodd & Charles Rangell still n ofc..like they've done nothing..Rangell don't pay taxes/etc..Dodd like a mafia head…& Dem's let them go on like heroes. Why doesn't obama want natural gas(clean energy)used or mention it even…all he can think of is undependable windturbines/solar which are only feasable with your govt/peoples money to subsidize substantially…another govt handout but not for person on street. Why not discontinue tax for little guy to boost economy instead of big banks who just build more buildings like Chase on every corner with govt money. I think almost anyone could do a better job than this bozo and his constituents(dems)..& Polosi/Reed are just freaks..dinosauers that need to get the hell out of congress & let someone with a brain do the job…God help us thru these idiots who are destroying this country…If still not sure if bozo doing a good job…ask someone unemployed who doesn't get unemployment benefits…like independent contractors who don't show up n unemployment figures or students who can't get a job because of outsourcing…Maybe we can subsidize GeorgeZoros over n Brazil some more to drill instead of here/major contributor/friend/advisor to obama…Nice…how pathetic…and media tries to target SaraPalin who actually visits troops(family n service)/Lead Alaska with people loving her leadership/obama is treating economy like its monopoly money…thankfully he got a raise by getting in offce. Its time to support people like Brown(MA)Sara & get rid of people been in ofc to long that do nothing including reaching over isle all the time when the dem's never do the same/…Quit selling our toll roads to foreign govt's/business also…that should be illegal…How easy obama got off with being involved with Acorn & so called preacher Wright(or whatever this bozo's name is)Unbelievable…guy is spuing hate and racial comments towards the rest of us…and towards USA..and obama stays n his presence for years…and dems/media thinks no big deal……the media except for Fox are corrupt & idiots….this shows who obamas friends are…crooks and racial freeks…including his comment on white policeman with racial professor(nutcase)…shows up to ck out burglary(black so called professor)and won't show identification…what an idiot…and obama backs him…so two idiots to say least….I could go on…but its too aggravating….& disgusting….to be continued…Last…hope to read Sara's book…& will be backing her election ……Keep up good wk on Fox…..:)

  • term limits

Joe Wilson was right. Obama lies. He is incapable of telling the truth. He is insulting and ignorant. Pelosi looked like she was going to screw him on the floor in the chamber. Democrats have become a total joke. If SCOTUS had not been in the building I wish someone had flown a plane into it.

  • Angus

Watching the White House Stand Up Barry aka President Obama was pretty entertaining. However, the more he spoke the more it became obvious how delusional he actually is. Starting with his lies about job creation to the attack on the supreme court this speech was nothing more than a continuation of his campaign propaganda. Rather than taking responsibility for the mess that his administration created he did what he does best; pointing the finger. It must be very lonely for him on top of that steep mountain that prevents him from seeing the people in the valley. So lonely that it has affected his hearing for he doesn’t even hear the echo of their voices. It is time for the president to step out of his self-created cocoon and see what is really happening around him. And if he can’t do that, maybe he should step down.

  • daniel

HOPE and CHANGE….cant deposit that into the bank, grocery stores wont take it either

  • Paul

Well said, Sarah. I'm sure you didn't have to use a teleprompter to say it either. Obviously Obama is completely detached from the working class of America. It is time for "we the people" to put the power of government back where it belongs. In the hands of the people. For too long it has been the government telling the people what they will do. It's time we tell the government what we want them to do and they work for us instead of us working for them. Bring in term limits & hold their feet to the fire.

  • william Caldwell

    The man is on crack!

  • Ami

He's kept his word on change though: our unemployment has changed-it went up, our troops are leaving Iraq- and going to Afghanistan, our homeless & hungry have increased, our national debt has sky-rocketed. Here's to "Change" America. The choice was made, now we deal with it.

  • Martha

I want to know why Obama is president. All indications and documents show he was born in Indonesia. I know this has come forward and he has yet to deny it. So someone tell me why? And why has someone not kicked Nancy P's butt? I can't stand that woman. I wanted someone to slap that grin off her face. I listened to Obama for a while and then turned him off. I don't even like to see his face any more. I think our president is a fast talking lier.

  • Marty Hermes

Congratulations Sarah for speaking out for those who have been voicing the same concerns for more then a year.

I have never seen a President "hop into" so many major issues, from one into another….as the saying goes: " How do you eat an elephant in your living room? …..One bite at a time". It's evident President Obama seems scattered and VERY aware his agenda is in trouble. The comments posted are absolutely a reflection of the unemployed, the senior citizens , the middle and lower class in this country. We are tired of lies and half truths and secrecy. If other government representatives are serious about reform, why not take huge pay cuts, eliminate their retirement millions and pour it back into the country. We cannot produce quantity and quality of anything on a shoestring, without the menial labor to do it!

Thank you for hearing me and others and for having the courage to expose the "truth". Please keep it up. The Americans that live in this country need someone in their corner. Yes, this whole debaucled mess is a WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL OF US…..but is it too late? Are we on the path to extinction or will we again be the country we built and were once known to be? We need more folks like you representing our interests, next congressional election shouldn't be a surprise, I have talked to many who ARE VOTING OUT ANYONE WE'VE HEARD OF IN OFFICE…..bringing in NEW, ORDINARY CITIZENS, FRESH BLOOD that have teethed on comman sense. I hope you might be one of them.

  • Ada Warren

I think Jennifer Anistion came up with the perfect phrase about Brad Pitt and it fits Obama. He is definately missing a sensitivity chip.
He has this God like attitude and what's ironic, he doesn't believe in God.
I am hoping impeachment will be the words that soon come out of the Countrys' mouth.
We need a leader that believes in God and believes in the people of the United States.

  • Angus
